49ers don't expect Jimmy Garoppolo to be active vs. Eagles; Deebo Samuel added to injury list

It was unlikely that San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo suited up on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, serving as rookie Brock Purdy's backup in the NFC Championship Game. Still, there was a slight chance the injured veteran could be healthy enough to be active. The team awaited the results of an X-ray on Tuesday to see how much Garoppolo's broken foot has recovered. Head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke with reporters on Wednesday and shared that the 49ers got the X-ray results. "I don't expect to have him this week," Shanahan revealed. Garoppolo sustained his injury on December 4. A return for the Super Bowl remains a possibility. A new name was added to the 49ers' injury report. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel will not practice

The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Divisional Round playoff contest against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. There hasn't been much to report as far as injuries this week. The 49ers are relatively healthy entering their second playoff game of the year. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and cornerback Ambry Thomas are the only players who missed each practice this week. As expected, San Francisco has ruled out both players for Sunday's game.
