The San Francisco 49ers may not be done reshaping their wide receiver room. Despite adding veterans Mike Evans and Christian Kirk this offseason, the team could still target the position with its first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
According to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, the 49ers are hosting former Indiana wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. in Santa Clara on Wednesday as part of their final pre-draft evaluations.
With the 2026 NFL Draft set to begin next week, Cooper could emerge as a realistic option for San Francisco at No. 27 overall if he remains on the board.

The 49ers' receiver group has undergone a significant overhaul this offseason. While Evans and Kirk were added, Jauan Jennings, Kendrick Bourne, and Skyy Moore have departed, and Brandon Aiyuk will likely be next.
Cooper (6-0, 199) spent four seasons at Indiana, totaling 115 receptions for 1,798 yards and 22 touchdowns, per Sports Reference. He also added 97 rushing yards and two rushing scores, along with 63 yards on kick returns.
The wideout is coming off his most productive season in 2025, recording 69 receptions for 937 yards and a career-high 13 touchdowns. His breakout campaign helped Indiana secure a College Football Playoff National Championship, earning him second-team All-Big Ten honors.
At the NFL Scouting Combine, Cooper posted a 4.42-second 40-yard dash, a 37-inch vertical jump, and a 1.55-second 10-yard split.
His former Indiana quarterback, projected No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza, offered a compelling comparison while speaking to reporters at the Combine—one that should catch the attention of 49ers fans.
"The body control he has is crazy," Mendoza said. "He's like a prime Deebo Samuel. … He has great body control, great hands, can play any position on the field. To have him as a receiver that can be a gadget guy, can also take it deep, and also great routes and hands, especially for the quarterback, he helped make me this year."
