The San Francisco 49ers are continuing their evaluation of wide receiver prospects ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft.
According to analyst Ryan Fowler, the 49ers are scheduled to host former Indiana wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. in Santa Clara for a pre-draft visit. Each NFL team is allowed up to 30 such visits with draft prospects.
"One of the premier wideouts in the class," Fowler noted.

Even after signing veteran wide receiver Mike Evans, the 49ers are still expected to address the position in the 2026 NFL Draft, which begins next month. San Francisco is expected to release Brandon Aiyuk, while Kendrick Bourne has signed with the Arizona Cardinals, and Skyy Moore joined the Green Bay Packers. Meanwhile, Jauan Jennings remains a free agent.
Cooper (6-0, 199) could provide the type of versatile offensive weapon that 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan covets in his system.
Cooper spent four seasons at Indiana, finishing his collegiate career with 115 receptions for 1,798 yards and 22 touchdowns, according to Sports Reference. He also added 97 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns, along with 63 kick return yards.
In 2025, Cooper recorded 69 receptions for 937 yards and a career-high 13 receiving touchdowns. His performance helped Indiana capture a College Football Playoff National Championship, and he earned second-team All-Big Ten honors.
Interestingly, Cooper's skill set has drawn comparisons to former 49ers standout Deebo Samuel. Even his former Indiana quarterback, projected No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza, acknowledged the similarities.
"The body control he has is crazy," Mendoza said. "He's like a prime Deebo Samuel. … He has great body control, great hands, can play any position on the field. To have him as a receiver that can be a gadget guy, can also take it deep, and also great routes and hands, especially for the quarterback, he helped make me this year."
At the NFL Scouting Combine, Cooper posted a 4.42-second 40-yard dash, a 37-inch vertical jump, and a 1.55-second 10-yard split.
