Former Arizona State defensive back Myles Rowser recently spoke with Justin Melo of Sports Illustrated and confirmed that he met with all 32 NFL teams during the East-West Shrine Bowl in January. Among those conversations, his meeting with the San Francisco 49ers stood out.
"I had really good meetings with the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, Baltimore Ravens, and New York Jets," Rowser said. "Those were a few teams that stuck out."
The 49ers could look to strengthen their secondary in the 2026 NFL Draft. San Francisco's defensive backfield has already drawn speculation this offseason, with starting outside corner Renardo Green's name even surfacing as a trade candidate.
Rowser (6-foot-1, 195 pounds) played at Campbell, New Mexico State, and Arizona State during his four-year collegiate career. In 2025, he recorded 84 tackles, four tackles for loss, and a fumble recovery while appearing in 13 games. He also finished the season with three passes defended.
The 49ers appear to be doing their due diligence on the versatile defensive back.
"The 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs, they've met with my defensive coordinator at Arizona State to talk about me as well," Rowser noted. "They have a really strong relationship. They had a good heart-to-heart about me (laughs)."
Across the past three seasons—one with New Mexico State in 2023 and two with Arizona State from 2024 to 2025—Rowser totaled 251 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and an interception, along with 11 passes defended and a forced fumble, according to Sports Reference.
When asked to describe his playing style, Rowser emphasized his physical approach.
"I'm always trying to deliver that big blow on defense," Rowser said. "I play with a lot of speed and physicality. I'm always around the football. I'm a strong communicator as a leader on the field. I'm very vicious."
