The San Francisco 49ers are losing a key member of Kyle Shanahan's coaching staff to a division rival.
According to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, the Seattle Seahawks are hiring longtime 49ers assistant Brian Fleury as their new offensive coordinator. He replaces Klint Kubiak, who departed to become head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders.

The move marks a significant loss for Shanahan and the 49ers, who must now replace a versatile coach with experience on both sides of the ball — and who will work directly against them in the NFC West.
On Saturday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the Seahawks were interviewing Fleury for their offensive coordinator vacancy.
After an extensive collegiate coaching career, Fleury broke into the NFL in 2013 as a quality control coach with the Buffalo Bills. He later served as the Cleveland Browns' linebackers coach from 2014 to 2015 and as the Miami Dolphins' Director of Football Research from 2016 to 2018.
Fleury joined Shanahan's 49ers staff in 2019 and spent seven seasons in San Francisco. He began as a defensive quality control coach during the team's Super Bowl LIV run and later transitioned to the offensive side of the ball. Most recently, Fleury served as the run game coordinator and tight ends coach, working with All-Pro George Kittle.
In 2024, Fleury helped guide a 49ers offense that ranked second in the NFL in yards per play (6.2) and fourth in total yards per game. Now, that experience heads to Seattle.
