Rumor: Photos of 49ers new uniforms leaked?

Apr 21, 2009 at 8:15 AM--

Please note that this story is classified as a rumor as the authenticity of the jersey photos could not be determined.

A member of the forums has posted photos of what he claims to be the new design for the 49ers home jerseys. The complete design is officially scheduled to be unveiled on Saturday, April 25. The photos are claimed to have been taken at a Reebok/Addidas warehouse using a camera phone and appear to represent the new replica jerseys which will be made available to fans. They also very much resemble the leaked NFLShop.com photo that Examiner.com reported earlier this month.

The look of these jerseys resemble the design of the current throwbacks with two major differences. The numbers on the sleeves have been moved up to the shoulders and there appears to be some text (most likely the team name) above the front numbers on the chest.

Some fans have noted that the color appears to be the team's current darker red. However, that may be because of the quality of the camera and/or lighting.

Are these photos real? We'll find out in 4 days when the official unveiling takes place.

After jumping out to a 10-point lead and knocking QB Drew Brees out of the game, the 49ers went "No Gas, All Brakes" in their 27-13 loss to the Saints. The San Francisco 49ers had an opportunity to stun the New Orleans Saints after jumping out to a quick lead, but a combination of turnovers, a lackluster offensive performance, and abysmal special teams play allowed the Saints to cruise to an easy victory over a mostly disinterested Niners team and coaching staff.
