The San Francisco 49ers held their final practice before Sunday night's matchup against the Chicago Bears, and tight end George Kittle remained absent for a third consecutive day. Kittle injured his ankle on Monday night against the Indianapolis Colts, and his availability for Week 17 is still uncertain.
Kittle's absence on Friday means the All-Pro player won't practice against of the crucial upcoming matchup.
"Is he going to get there? We don't know, and this is one of those things, he'll take it right up [to game day]," general manager John Lynch said on Friday during a radio interview. "George is the type of player that you probably give him that latitude where, 'Hey, we'll give you all the way up to the game.'"
Head coach Kyle Shanahan will announce official game statuses for Kittle and other injured 49ers following Friday's practice.
Reporters also noted that wide receiver Ricky Pearsall was back on the field. The second-year player returned to practice this week after missing last week's sessions and Monday night's game due to knee and ankle injuries, and he appears to be trending toward a return.
Additionally, cornerback Renardo Green (neck) was seen on the practice field after missing the Colts game. Defensive linemen Yetur Gross-Matos (knee) and Sam Okuayinonu (ankle), along with linebacker Tatum Bethune (ankle), participated.
