Shanahan noted that the team would make a decision on Davis' status on Friday. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Davis is scheduled to undergo surgery on his broken hand and could miss as few as two games. Even when he returns, he will likely be forced to play with a protective cast.

Davis has started all five games for the 49ers this season, recording seven tackles, including two tackles for loss. After his exit, rookie defensive lineman Alfred Collins stepped in and made a significant impact.
