With the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft in the books, analysts are already projecting what teams might do next. Pro Football Network analyst Ian Cummings released his Day 2 mock draft and sees the San Francisco 49ers continuing to fortify the defensive line after selecting Georgia defensive end Mykel Williams with the 11th overall pick.
In the second round, Cummings has the 49ers taking Toledo defensive tackle Darius Alexander at No. 43.
"Darius Alexander will be a 25-year-old rookie, but teams are sure to fall in love with his power profile and hot motor," Cummings wrote. "At 6'4″, 305 pounds, with 34″ arms, he's a tree trunk in contact situations, with the power capacity to plow through anchors and pry into gaps."
San Francisco holds two third-round selections, and Cummings continues the defensive rebuild. He projects Notre Dame cornerback Benjamin Morrison at No. 75, followed by Tennessee defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott at No. 100.
"Benjamin Morrison's medicals may continue to push him down the board, but he'd be a nice fit in San Francisco," Cummings added. "He has the route vision and snappy corrective athleticism to play in off-man and zone, and his ability to match in press-man is well documented."
On the Norman-Lott pick, Cummings noted, "The 49ers already invested in their interior line in this 2025 NFL Mock Draft with Darius Alexander, but Omarr Norman-Lott compounds the momentum and provides a different skill set: A unique pass-rush proficiency at 6'2″, 290 pounds, with 34″ arms."
CBS Sports projects a CB for the 49ers in Round 2
Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports also released his Day 2 mock draft and similarly sees the 49ers sticking with defense in the second round, projecting East Carolina cornerback Shavon Revel Jr. at No. 43.
"Revel would've probably gone in the first round had he not tore his ACL in September," Trapasso wrote. "He's a long and explosive playmaker at boundary corner."
Trapasso stays on the defensive side of the ball in the third round, forecasting Ole Miss linebacker Chris Paul Jr. at No. 75—a potential future replacement for Dre Greenlaw. At pick No. 100, he shifts to offense, projecting Texas Tech offensive lineman Caleb Rogers to help bolster the trenches.
