The biggest question heading into the start of the San Francisco 49ers' offseason program on Tuesday has been answered: Would Brock Purdy show up amid ongoing contract extension talks?
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Purdy did report and is with his teammates in Santa Clara.

However, Rapoport added that George Kittle is not in attendance, as he and the 49ers continue negotiating a new contract for the star tight end. Kittle is entering the final year of his current deal.
#49ers QB Brock Purdy has arrived with his team for voluntary offseason conditioning, per me and @TomPelissero, as the two sides are having continued conversations about an extension.

The first phase of the offseason program won't include any on-field practices, as it's limited to meetings, strength and conditioning, and physical rehabilitation.
San Francisco remains focused on finalizing an extension with Purdy, and his presence this week could suggest that the gap between both sides may not be as wide as previously believed. While a deal isn't done yet, the quarterback appears confident enough in the progress to report to the team.
On the other hand, Michael Silver of The Athletic reported this week that the 49ers and Kittle are not close in their negotiations, which likely explains his absence. It's worth noting that all offseason activities remain voluntary until the mandatory minicamp in June.
Purdy is entering his fourth NFL season and is expected to become the highest-paid player in franchise history. Now in his ninth year, Kittle is poised to reset the tight end market once again, just as he did with his last deal in 2020.
