San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk was spotted in the locker room ahead of Wednesday's practice, suggesting a positive sign that his recovery is progressing well. The team is preparing for its season finale against the Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium.
Reporters observed Aiyuk moving well following surgery to repair the torn ACL and MCL he suffered on October 20 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
"Brandon Aiyuk looking real good in recovery from right knee surgery," Bay Area News Group's Cam Inman noted on social media. "Was getting off ground shooting 18-foot jumpers in basketball competition with Ronnie Bell in locker room."
The Athletic's Matt Barrows commented, "Brandon Aiyuk engaged in a competitive three-point jump shooting battle with Ronnie Bell. Aiyuk's right knee — repaired by Neal ElAttrache— looked like it was in good shape."
Head coach Kyle Shanahan provided an update on Aiyuk's progress during a press conference on Saturday.
"Yeah, he's plugging along with that," Shanahan said. "The rehab guys, I don't see too much of. They come in early in the morning, and they're usually out of here before we get off the practice field."
Aiyuk spent the early phase of his rehabilitation in Southern California, where his surgery was performed.
"But he's been back here like the last month or so going through his process, working hard," Shanahan added. "It's a long process, but he's on track."
