49ers signing veteran safety Adrian Amos to the practice squad

The San Francisco 49ers have bolstered their safety depth by signing veteran Adrian Amos to the practice squad. To make room, the team is releasing wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr.

The 49ers are currently thin at the safety position, with Talanoa Hufanga recently placed on injured reserve and Malik Mustapha sidelined by an ankle injury from last week's win over the Seattle Seahawks.

Mustapha did not participate in Monday's practice, leaving Ji'Ayir Brown and George Odum to handle the majority of reps.

Initially a fifth-round pick out of Penn State by the Chicago Bears in the 2015 NFL Draft, Amos has since played with the Bears, Green Bay Packers, New York Jets, and Houston Texans. In 2022, he recorded a career-high 102 tackles with the Packers, adding seven tackles for a loss, two quarterback hits, one interception, and one sack.

Amos has appeared in 142 games throughout his nine NFL seasons, starting 125 of them. He has accumulated 664 tackles, 10 interceptions, one touchdown, six sacks, 49 passes defensed, and three forced fumbles over his career.
