San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is not having his best summer. Negotiations for a new contract are not going as well as he would like, and Aiyuk has not been shy about expressing his thoughts. Last week, Aiyuk posted a video in which he told his friend, rookie QB Jayden Daniels, that the 49ers said they don't want him. On Monday, Aiyuk met with John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan to discuss his future with the organization.
On NFL Live on Monday, Adam Schefter referred to Aiyuk as "disgruntled." During that same episode of NFL Live, Ryan Clark said he spoke with Aiyuk and that the receiver admitted that these negotiations have affected him and that he's taking this personally. Of course, the 49ers went through a similar thing two years ago with Deebo Samuel. Albert Breer, of Sports Illustrated, wrote on Tuesday, "I'd remind everyone assuming that Brandon Aiyuk is done with the Niners that things were worse with Deebo Samuel and the team two years ago, and an extension got done." That was, of course, when Samuel demanded to be traded. Breer believes the 49ers and Aiyuk will work things out, just like they did with Samuel.
In the meantime, Aiyuk is still talking. On Tuesday, Aiyuk responded to a social media post by JPA Football. The post read, "𝗥𝗘𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧: The 49ers and Commanders talked about a Brandon Aiyuk deal, but Washington decided against doing it, per Adam Schefter."
Aiyuk responded to the post, writing, "But I thought the Niners was never tryna trade me?" Clearly, he is paying attention to what's being said. And he's making sure his opinion is being heard.

As Schefter has mentioned, the 49ers still want Aiyuk to be with the team long-term. And as Breer said, they will get it worked out. "Based on what they've already offered Aiyuk, it's crystal clear that San Francisco very much wants to keep its No. 1 receiver," Breer wrote. "My guess would be when the dust clears, the sides will be able to find some common ground and get something done. We'll see."
There's no need for fans...or Aiyuk to panic. It will all be worked out soon.
