The San Francisco 49ers announced they have signed TE Logan Thomas to a one-year deal. The team waived DL Raymond Johnson III to make room on the roster. The Thomas deal was initially reported on Monday.

The 49ers Communications staff provided the following rundown.

Thomas (6-6, 250) was originally drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the fourth round (120th overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft. Throughout his eight-year NFL career with the Cardinals (2014), Buffalo Bills (2017-18), Detroit Lions (2019), and Washington Commanders (2020-23), he has appeared in 94 games (57 starts) and registered 219 receptions for 2,002 yards and 16 touchdowns. In 2023, Thomas appeared in 16 games (15 starts) with the Commanders and finished with 55 receptions for 496 yards and four touchdowns.

A 32-year-old native of Lynchburg, VA, Thomas attended Virginia Tech University (2010-13), where he played quarterback and appeared in 44 games and completed 589 passing attempts for 6,031 yards and 40 touchdowns.

Johnson III (6-3, 264) originally signed as an undrafted free agent with the team on February 15, 2024.
