49ers’ Brandon Aiyuk reacts to report that Steelers are interested

This morning, Andrew Fillipponi of Pittsburgh-area radio station 93.7 The Fan reported that the Steelers have "shown interest" in trading for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.

Hours later, Aiyuk shared the following on social media, leading some to believe that the receiver might be open to joining the East Coast team.

Over the weekend, Jacksonville radio station 1010XL's Mia O'Brien reported that the Jaguars had been interested in Aiyuk, but the 49ers' asking price of the No. 17 overall pick plus wide receiver Zay Jones was too high.

The Steelers own the No. 20 overall pick, but it would likely take more than that to pry Aiyuk away from the 49ers. San Francisco has expressed a strong desire to sign Aiyuk to a long-term deal. He is slated to play on the team-exercised fifth-year option after leading the 49ers with 1,342 receiving yards in 2023.

The 49ers had to deal with similar offseason drama in 2022 that escalated to wide receiver Deebo Samuel requesting a trade. The two sides eventually agreed to a three-year, $73.5 million contract extension.
