The San Francisco 49ers are turning to a familiar face for a workout following injuries to two safeties, Talanoa Hufanga and George Odum. Hufanga suffered a torn ACL in Week 11, while Odum sustained a torn biceps on Thanksgiving.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, veteran defensive back Anthony Averett will work out for the 49ers on Monday. Averett briefly joined San Francisco's roster during training camp in August but was released with an injury settlement on August 17.

Averett has primarily played cornerback throughout his career but brings special teams experience, an area in which Odum excelled.

The Baltimore Ravens selected Averett in the fourth round (118th overall) of the 2018 draft. Over his five-year NFL career with the Ravens (2018-21) and the Las Vegas Raiders (2022), he has appeared in 57 games with 27 starts, registering 95 tackles, 23 passes defensed, and three interceptions.

Averett's last regular-season appearance was in 2022 with the Raiders.

Terique Owens, son of Hall of Fame wide receiver, Terrell Owens, is reportedly signing as an undrafted free agent (UDFA) with the San Francisco 49ers. The elder Owens, who the 49ers drafted in 1996 (third round) out of Tennessee Chattanooga, spent his first eight seasons with the team. He was known for his speed, and strength, using his 6'3, 224-pound frame to bully defensive backs, and run away from defenses. He finished his career with 1,078 catches for 15,934 yards and 153 touchdowns. Anyone who watched Owens play very much can close their eyes and picture him running through defenses. There was a certain way he ran, taking long strides as he moved

Amidst swirling trade rumors surrounding Brandon Aiyuk, the speculation surrounding Deebo Samuel's future with the San Francisco 49ers seems to have quieted down. According to Michael Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle, the 49ers have assured Samuel that he will not be involved in any pre- or post-draft transactions, ensuring his place on the roster for the time being. "Samuel, who signed a three-year, $71.55 million extension before the 2022 season, has been assured by his bosses that he will not be dealt during or after the draft," Silver reported, citing a source familiar with the discussions. 49ers mailbag: Will Brandon Aiyuk be on the roster on Friday morning? Will SF draft another quarterback?

By Marc Adams

We're just over 24 hours before round one of the NFL Draft begins. The San Francisco 49ers are scheduled to have their first pick in the opening round since 2021 when they drafted Trey Lance. That didn't turn out well, but there is optimism that the team will be able to make its roster better over the next few days. GM John Lynch spoke on Monday and said there's a possibility the team could trade out of the first round. I doubt that would go over well with the fanbase, especially since they haven't had a first-rounder in the past two years. But if it's a good trade that lands the 49ers some quality picks, we could see that happen, especially if there aren't any players at pick 31 that the team is excited about. We opened up the 49ers Webzone Mailbag to see what
