The San Francisco 49ers are enjoying some much-needed time off during their bye week. They will return to work on Monday, gearing up for a Week 10 clash with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

How is quarterback Brock Purdy spending his time off? He's taking a detour to the heart of Iowa for some quality farm time.

Purdy's fiancé, Jenna Brandt, shared an Instagram video showing the 49ers quarterback confidently at the wheel of a tractor on their family farm. Purdy and Brandt got engaged earlier this year. The quarterback played college football at Iowa State.

"Wrapping up harvest '23," Brandt wrote in the video post.

Purdy and the 49ers are navigating a challenging stretch, having faced three consecutive losses after a five-game winning streak to start the season. While Purdy avoided throwing an interception in those first five games, he has thrown five in the last three games, leading to some scrutiny from outside the building.

This week, Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young was asked about the most constructive way for Purdy to spend his bye-week downtime.

"I hope that he takes a week off, you know what I mean?" Young said on Bay Area radio station KNBR's "Tolbert and Copes" show. "Because his nature is to go out and walk through the mistakes. ... [Y]ou don't want to overthink things. Take a week off. Let your mind rest because his mind's going to be tested over the next couple of months. I hope he takes a week off."

It appears that Purdy is heeding Young's advice, enjoying a much-deserved break and distraction from the rigors of NFL life. Young believes the time off will benefit the quarterback upon his return to Santa Clara after the weekend.

49ers' Brock Purdy completes tosses to George Kittle at Levi's Stadium...during Luke Combs concert

By Marc Adams
May 19

San Francisco 49ers fans are accustomed to seeing QB Brock Purdy complete passes to tight end George Kittle. On Saturday night, the duo hooked up a few more times at Levi's Stadium. But it was on a stage rather than on the field. Country music star, Luke Combs, was in concert at Levi's Stadium, when part of the way through his show, he called Purdy and Kittle on stage to join him. After downing a beer with Combs, Kittle then motioned for Purdy to throw him another. Of course, his quarterback obliged. In the video, it appears that Combs raised his hand for another, but Purdy looked him off, choosing to go to his star tight end

Does 49ers QB Brock Purdy need Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel for success?

By David Bonilla
May 15

Rumors circulated before and during the 2024 NFL Draft about the possibility of the San Francisco 49ers losing one of their top two wide receivers—Brandon Aiyuk or Deebo Samuel. Such a scenario could have significantly impacted the team's success in the upcoming season and posed a potential blow for quarterback Brock Purdy, who has thrived alongside the dynamic duo on the field. However, none of these speculations came to fruition. Both Aiyuk and Samuel remain on the roster, at least for another season, though their future beyond that remains uncertain. Aiyuk is seeking a contract extension that would position him among the highest-paid wide receivers in the NFL. At the same time, Samuel already commands a significant salary following a deal rework in 2022.

Steve Young on keeping the 49ers competitive after paying Brock Purdy

By David Bonilla
May 16

The San Francisco 49ers are gearing up to elevate quarterback Brock Purdy to their highest-paid player status starting next year. Negotiations for a contract extension with the young signal-caller, entering his third NFL season, are on the horizon. Purdy's on-field performance has far exceeded his current salary. Last season, he set a single-season franchise record with 4,280 passing yards and led the 49ers to a Super Bowl appearance while earning a base salary of $870,000. Even for the upcoming season, his salary will only bump up to $985,000. That may sound like a lot to the ordinary person, but it is only a fraction of the team's salary cap. However, Purdy's next contract is expected to catapult him into the ranks of the NFL's highest-paid players. That title
