The San Francisco 49ers are facing the possibility of being without their All-Pro tackle on Monday night when they take on the Minnesota Vikings. Trent Williams sustained an ankle injury early in last weekend's game against the Cleveland Browns, but he fought through the pain, finishing the Week 6 contest.

Williams did not participate in practice this week and is currently listed as "doubtful" for Monday's game. Jaylon Moore received all of this week's practice reps with the starters and will take William's place at left tackle if he cannot play.

Moore has been with the team since 2021, when the 49ers made him a fifth-round draft pick out of Western Michigan.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan, speaking to reporters after Saturday's practice, was questioned about his confidence in Moore's ability to step in for the injured Williams.

"The good thing with Jaylon is he gets a lot of work with us," Shanahan said. "Trent, with his age and stuff, he never really goes on [the first practice of the week], so Jaylon's always going with all the reps on [those days]. He got a ton of reps in preseason, all the games and everything. So he's ready for this moment.

"He's been with us for a while, and if he's got to step up, which it's looking that way right now, he'll be ready. He's had a good week."

The 49ers are counting on Moore's preseason efforts and participation in the first practice day of each week to equip him to face Minnesota's blitz-heavy defense.

Shanahan sentiments echoed those of his offensive line coach and run game coordinator, Chris Foerster.

"The good thing for Jaylon is he has had a lot of work when Trent had his vet days during camp and doesn't play in the preseason," Foerster told reporters on Friday. "So, Jaylon does get to play. You do get to see if he's progressed, and we think Jaylon has progressed.

"I mean, you've heard me say it in here a lot, that you don't know until you play in the games exactly how far, but he has improved on some things. It's been good to watch him do that, and hope that if he does get pressed into duty again on Monday night, then we'll be able to see some improvement."

Johnny Holland confident 49ers' Dre Greenlaw will make a strong comeback

By David Bonilla
May 22

Dre Greenlaw suffered a devastating injury during February's Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, tearing his Achilles and missing half the game. The San Francisco 49ers linebacker has been on the challenging road to recovery since then. Greenlaw's progress appears promising. He attended the Dwight Clark Legacy Series event last week without a protective boot and seemed to be moving well as he walked on stage to accept the prestigious Dwight Clark Award. "It's a long, long, slow process," Greenlaw told the audience at the California Theatre in San Jose. "I'm feeling really, really good, though. I'm happy to be able to walk on the stage, actually." Can the 49ers dethrone the Chiefs next season?

By David Bonilla
May 21

NFL Media columnist Jeffri Chadiha recently assessed the potential championship contenders for the upcoming season, ranking teams based on their likelihood to challenge the reigning Kansas City Chiefs and halt their quest for a historic third consecutive Super Bowl victory. At the top of Chadiha's list are the San Francisco 49ers, last season's Super Bowl runner-up. Four quarters wasn't enough in February's NFL title game to knock off Kyle Shanahan's squad, but quarterback Patrick Mahomes managed to clinch victory in overtime. "The Chiefs have won two of their most recent Super Bowls at the expense of the 49ers --

Can Isaac Guerendo end this 49ers draft trend at running back?

By David Bonilla

ESPN's Bill Barnwell has expressed concerns about the San Francisco 49ers' draft history under head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch. While the duo has brought in key contributors like Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel, George Kittle, Fred Warner, and Nick Bosa, they have also had their share of draft misses, which is cause for concern. These missteps haven't cost the 49ers too much, though. The team has still participated regularly in NFC Championship Games and is coming off a Super Bowl appearance, the second of Shanahan and Lynch's tenure. Still, the team has yet to get over the hump and bring home that elusive sixth championship for the franchise. Some critical draft misses may have contributed to the team failing to reach its aspirations, the

Why Leonard Floyd signed with the 49ers: 'They play grown-man football'

By David Bonilla
May 22

Leonard Floyd had multiple options as he entered free agency but chose the San Francisco 49ers as his next NFL home. It wasn't just the beautiful California weather and scenery that attracted him. Although, during a Wednesday morning conversation on Bay Area radio station KNBR, the defensive end admitted those are among the first things he praises when talking to his friends back on the East Coast. Floyd signed a two-year, $20 million deal with the 49ers, hoping to return to the Super Bowl with a talented roster fresh off an appearance in the NFL title game. While the money is significant, the defender wasn't entirely financially motivated. Floyd has always admired the 49ers from afar, appreciating the physicality the defense consistently displays on the football
