San Francisco 49ers tackle
Trent Williams informed Cam Inman of Bay Area News Group that the NFL fined him $11,000 for punching New York Giants defensive lineman A'Shawn Robinson in the Week 3 matchup between the two teams.
Update: Both Williams and Robinson were each fined $11,473, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Media.
The altercation occurred just before halftime. To the surprise of many, Williams was not ejected from the game.
"Most replays don't show that it actually was a retaliatory slug after A'Shawn Robinson hit Trent in the neck," wrote Inman. "That's likely why officials didn't eject the 49ers left tackle just before halftime of win over Giants."
Officials handed out unnecessary roughness penalties to Williams and Robinson following the minor scuffle.
"It was a love tap," Williams joked after the game.
The tackle noted, "A lot of tempers flaring out there. It's a competitive game, and sometimes things boil over a little bit."

Trent Williams reveals message to 49ers ahead of Eagles game
Trent Williams remembers Philadelphia well. The veteran offensive lineman holds vivid memories of that city's fanbase, having frequented Lincoln Financial Field as a member of the Washington Commanders.
The San Francisco 49ers recalled their experience playing in that stadium during last season's NFC Championship Game. Still, Williams is more familiar with the venue and was able to offer valuable insights to his teammates ahead of Sunday's highly anticipated matchup.
"That's one thing that I vividly remember from my years in Washington is that the crowd, although they are loud and they are hostile, one thing about it is they do turn on the team pretty quick," Williams told KNBR's Brian Murphy and Markus Boucher on Tuesday morning. "So my message to my guys is
