Charvarius Ward showed up on the San Francisco 49ers' Thursday injury report. The cornerback did not practice due to a heel injury. It doesn't sound too serious, as the 49ers head coach expressed optimism that Ward would be on the field Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

"Yeah, he had a little thing that came up yesterday, but we're feeling pretty confident he's going to be all right," Kyle Shanahan said Thursday on KNBR's "Tolbert and Copes" show.

Defensive coordinator Steve Wilks also seemed unconcerned.

"I'm not concerned at all," Wilks said in his post-practice press conference. "I think he'll be ready to play, so it's not an issue with me."

Kicker Jake Moody has been limited with a right quad injury. Things appear to be trending toward the rookie playing this weekend.

"Jake, I mean, we haven't [determined his status] for sure yet, which I think I'll do tomorrow," Shanahan said. "But I feel he's going to be real good."

By David Bonilla

The San Francisco 49ers are on a mission to rebound from their February Super Bowl defeat, eyeing a return to the NFL title game and aiming to lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy at the season's end. What stands as their greatest hurdle in achieving this goal? Is it the Kansas City Chiefs, who claimed victory over them in the Super Bowl and will face them again in a Week 7 rematch? Or is it the challenge of overcoming adversity, such as injuries? According to Bucky Brooks, it's actually something else entirely. The NFL analyst believes that the biggest challenge facing the 49ers this season will be refocusing after the heartbreak of their

Is this the best wide receiver group Kyle Shanahan has had with the 49ers?

By Marc Adams
May 11

If you want wide receivers, the San Francisco 49ers have you covered. In addition to bringing back their top three receivers from 2023, Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel, and Jauan Jennings, the 49ers are also bringing back Chris Conley, Danny Gray, Ronnie Bell, Trent Taylor, and others. And if that wasn't enough, they drafted Ricky Pearsall (Florida) and Jacob Cowing (Arizona) and signed undrafted rookie free agent, Terique Owens (Missouri State). That's a solid receiving corp, led by two Pro Bowlers and a guy with a knack for picking up first downs. But where does this group rank among those Kyle Shanahan has had in San Francisco? We can't compare this group to those from the 1980s and 1990s. That would be unfair. Any wide receiver group with Jerry Rice, the greatest

It's already confirmed that the San Francisco 49ers will kick off their 2024 regular season at home against the New York Jets on "Monday Night Football." However, that Week 1 matchup won't be the only time head coach Kyle Shanahan's team takes the spotlight on Monday night. Joe Buck disclosed on "Good Morning America" that ESPN and ABC have scheduled a second matchup featuring the Niners. When discussing additional matchups beyond the debut game, Buck mentioned, "We know that we also have the Cowboys twice, and we've got the Chiefs twice. We've got the Bills twice. We've got another date with the

49ers won't play international game during 2024 NFL season

By David Bonilla
May 15

The San Francisco 49ers escaped having to play an international game for another season. The Bay Area team won't be required to travel overseas or compete in Mexico during the 2024 season. The NFL has released its lineup of international games, and the 49ers aren't among the teams scheduled for long-distance journeys. San Francisco's last international game was in 2022, where they triumphed over the Arizona Cardinals in Mexico. Their prior overseas venture was to London in 2013, when they clinched a victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley Stadium. There was a chance that the 49ers might return to the United Kingdom for the 2024 NFL season. The Minnesota Vikings will host a team at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in 2024, and the 49ers are on their home
