The 2023 NFL Draft is just two days away. The San Francisco 49ers will make their first selection in three days, on Friday evening, at the end of the third round. While the team owns 11 total picks, it lacks selections in the first, second, and fourth rounds. San Francisco's first pick comes at No. 99 overall.
Pro Football Focus recently
published a seven-round mock draft with 17 analysts participating. Gordon McGuinness made all of the 49ers' projected selections. Below is a rundown of the predicted additions for the Bay Area team and McGuinness' analysis for the first six selections.

Round 3, Pick 99: CB Jaylon Jones, Texas A&M
"If there's a weakness on the 49ers' defense right now, it's at cornerback. Jones is coming off a season in which he allowed just 10 catches for 94 yards from 19 targets on 278 coverage snaps."
- McGuinness
Round 3, Pick 101: WR Kayshon Boutte, LSU
"Boutte once looked like a first-round prospect but could find that even this is higher than he eventually hears his name called on draft weekend. In drafting him here, the 49ers hope he can get back to the productivity we saw in his first two seasons at LSU."
- McGuinness
Round 3, Pick 102: DT Kobie Turner, Wake Forest
"A value pick based on the PFF big board, this was just too good a player to turn down at this position. Turner is coming off a season during which he posted a 93.1 PFF run-defense grade and an 88.8 pass-rushing grade."
- McGuinness
Round 5, Pick 155: CB Starling Thomas V, UAB
"Thomas is one of the fastest cornerbacks in the draft class, and his tape shows more than just speed. He allowed only 22 catches on 58 targets for 257 yards this past fall."
- McGuinness
Round 5, Pick 164: OG Jaxson Kirkland, Washington
"There are too many limitations to Kirkland's game to get too excited, but he still has a path to a starting role on a shaky 49ers offensive line outside of
Trent Williams."
- McGuinness
Round 5, Pick 173: DT Brodric Martin, Western Kentucky
"Martin is a poor man's Jordan Davis in that he's a towering 6-foot-5, 337-pound nose tackle with uber-long arms. He showed improvement as a bull rusher this past fall with 23 pressures after notching only 17 in his career prior."
- McGuinness
The remainder of the 49ers' picks in the mock draft are listed below.
- Round 6, Pick 216: Edge Brenton Cox Jr., Florida
- Round 7, Pick 222: TE Cameron Latu, Alabama
- Round 7, Pick 247: RB Chris Rodriguez, Kentucky
- Round 7, Pick 253: Edge Isaiah Land, Florida A&M
- Round 7, Pick 255: S DeMarcco Hellams, Alabama

49ers Notebook: Deebo is no longer "awful"; Ronnie Bell makes a splash; J.J. Watt praises Niners; Captain Andrew Luck makes Levi's cameo
Thursday night was a fun one at Levi's Stadium, where the San Francisco 49ers cruised to a 30-12 victory over the visiting New York Giants. It was a night that saw wide receiver Deebo Samuel declare himself as officially out of "awful" mode, running back Christian McCaffrey reach milestones, wide receiver Ronnie Bell create some lasting memories, and -- of all things -- Andrew Luck making a return to an NFL field (in full Civil War costume) to take part in a game of trivia.
Let's recap all that and more in this version of 49ers Notebook.
Not awful anymore
