Today is the last day that NFL teams can host prospects for pre-draft visits. According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, Texas running back Roschon Johnson is spending the day visiting with the San Francisco 49ers.
Johnson carried the football 93 times for 554 yards and five rushing touchdowns, adding 14 receptions for 128 yards and a receiving touchdown through 12 game appearances as a senior in 2022 as a backup to Bijan Robinson, per
Sports Reference. He had 2,190 rushing yards on 392 attempts and 23 rushing touchdowns, adding 56 receptions for 420 yards and three receiving touchdowns through his four collegiate seasons.
"Power back with bruising frame who fits the football cliche of 'tough, smart and dependable,'" Lance Zierlein of NFL.com wrote in
the player's draft profile. "Johnson isn't overly creative and lacks the juice to hit quick-closing NFL holes. He needs it blocked up so he can get downhill and uncork his power on the second level. While his lack of suddenness makes him somewhat limited as a runner, he will be better at stuffing blitzers than many of the No. 3 backs currently in the league. Johnson might be fighting off competition every year in camp, but his toughness and four-phase special teams value could give him an advantage."
Johnson is from Port Arthur, TX. He earned a pre-draft grade of 5.92 from NFL.com, which equates to an "average backup or special-teams player," per the site's 8-point grading scale.
At the NFL Scouting Combine, the 6' 0 1/4" and 219-pound Johnson had a 40-time of 4.58 seconds, a vertical jump of 31.5 inches, and a broad jump of 122 inches. His other measurables include an arm length of 32 inches and hands measuring 9 5/8 inches.
Johnson had a 40-time of 4.81 seconds, a vertical jump of 33.60 inches, and a 20-yard shuttle time of 4.29 seconds at his school Pro Day,
per NFLDraftBuzz.

49ers praise Ji'Ayir Brown's journey from draft to starting lineup
The San Francisco 49ers are still exploring their safety options due to injuries to Talanoa Hufanga and George Odum. Tayler Hawkins is on the practice squad, and the team has added veteran Erik Harris. General manager John Lynch admits that there aren't many outside options at this point in the season.
The silver lining is the depth added through the draft, with Ji'Ayir Brown selected from Penn State in the third round. Brown made a notable debut against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, stepping in for Hufanga, and made his first start against the Seattle Seahawks last week.
The rookie's impressive performance has not gone unnoticed, earning a 76.8 overall Pro Football Focus grade against the Buccaneers and a 73.9 grade on Thanksgiving night. The 49ers are optimistic
49ers vs. Seahawks: Brock Purdy gears up for familiar foe, acknowledges room for growth
Brock Purdy is gearing up to lead his San Francisco 49ers against the Seattle Seahawks for the second time in three games. This time, the Niners will play host, with Sunday's NFC West clash taking place at Levi's Stadium.
Purdy has faced Seattle more than any other opponent in his NFL career, creating a familiarity with the division rival. Despite never losing to the Seahawks, the second-year quarterback emphasizes that he won't take any opponent for granted.
"They got good players, some really good dudes that have a lot of experience and stuff, obviously with [LB] Bobby Wagner and then [DB Quandre] Diggs in the secondary, some boys that are playing corner that have got some experience now under their belts," Purdy told reporters after Thursday's
Kyle Shanahan provides injury updates on Arik Armstead, Spencer Burford, Elijah Mitchell ahead of 49ers-Seahawks
San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan provided injury updates during his weekly interview on Bay Area radio station KNBR, shedding light on the statuses of some ailing players ahead of the team's Week 14 showdown against the Seattle Seahawks.
Arik Armstead has yet to hit the practice field this week as he deals with foot and knee issues. On Wednesday, Shanahan said he would be surprised to see his veteran defensive tackle on the field this weekend. A day later, nothing has changed.
"Armstead's still looking like a long shot," Shanahan said on the "Tolbert and Copes" show. "Haven't ruled him out yet, officially, but I'll talk to the doctors. But I
49ers' Christian McCaffrey offers scouting report on younger brother
Maybe the San Francisco 49ers will be in the market to draft another wide receiver soon. Suppose the front office seeks the opinion of running back Christian McCaffrey. In that case, he will likely be vocal in his recommendation—a certain Rice wideout named Luke McCaffrey, who happens to be his younger brother.
"I would love to play with him one day," the older McCaffrey told reporters in the 49ers' locker room after Thursday's practice. "That would be the coolest thing ever. So I'm excited for him and his journey, and he's only going to get better."
Luke, listed at 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, recorded 68 receptions for 963 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, averaging 14.2 yards per catch.
"Yeah, I've watched every snap of every game," Christian
