The San Francisco 49ers have several positions to bolster via the upcoming draft. While most of the starting lineup seems set, the team lost some key depth via free agency.

NFL.com draft analyst Chad Reuter published his latest four-round mock draft and has the 49ers addressing some of those needs. Unfortunately, San Francisco doesn't make a pick until late in the third round, where they own three of the final four selections in that round.

Reuter has the Niners adding BYU offensive tackle Blake Freeland at pick No. 99.

San Francisco watched starting right tackle Mike McGlinchey depart for the Denver Broncos. The team brought back Colton McKivitz, who has started five games since the Niners made him a fifth-round draft pick out of West Virginia in 2020.

Freeland allowed only seven pressures in 462 pass-blocking snaps (860 total snaps) in 2022, per Pro Football Focus, earning a career-high 91.0 overall grade from the analytics site and a career-high run-blocking grade of 87.9. He has allowed only 12 pressures in 1,736 total snaps over the past two seasons.

Reuter has the 49ers adding Cal safety Daniel Scott with pick No. 101.

Defensive back Jimmie Ward, a safety who primarily lined up as the nickel cornerback in 2022, departed for the Houston Texans. Safety Tashaun Gipson returned to the 49ers on a one-year deal, and the team added free-agent safety Myles Hartsfield.

Scott recorded a career-high 85 tackles to go along with his 2.5 tackles for a loss, three interceptions, four passes defensed, and two forced fumbles with the Golden Bears in 2022, per Sports Reference. He has hauled in six interceptions over the past two seasons.

Reuter has San Francisco selecting Ohio State edge rusher Zach Harrison with pick No. 102.

The team lost edge rushers Samson Ebukam, Charles Omenihu, and Jordan Willis in free agency while adding former Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Clelin Ferrell.

Harrison racked up 11 sacks over his collegiate career, per Sports Reference. Three-and-a-half came in 2022. The defensive lineman added a career-high 34 tackles, eight tackles for a loss, an interception, four passes defensed, and three forced fumbles as a senior with the Buckeyes.

San Francisco does not own a fourth-round pick.

Marcus Mosher of The 33rd Team revealed his latest mock draft, which goes seven rounds deep and projects every selection for every NFL team. While most predict that the San Francisco 49ers will add an offensive lineman with their first selection, No. 31 overall, Mosher has the Bay Area team going in a different direction. The writer and analyst has the Niners selecting former UCLA pass rusher Laiatu Latu in the first round. "It wouldn't be a shock to see Laiatu Latu fall in the draft due to his medical history, but he is too good of a value to pass up here at No. 31," Mosher wrote. "The San Francisco 49ers have been searching for the right pass

The San Francisco 49ers have overhauled their defensive line in free agency, bidding farewell to defensive tackle Arik Armstead and defensive end Chase Young while bolstering their ranks with the signings of defensive ends Leonard Floyd and Yetur Gross-Matos. Additionally, they acquired defensive tackle Maliek Collins via trade. Having focused primarily on the defensive side of the ball in free agency, the 49ers are widely anticipated to turn their attention to the offensive side in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. The San Francisco 49ers hold the No. 31 overall pick, but speculation abounds that they may seek to move before or during the first round of next week's NFL Draft. With the offensive line as a prime target for improvement and the position going mostly ignored in free agency, a strategic trade-up to acquire an impact player could be in the cards. Alyssa Barbieri proposes such a scenario in her latest mock draft for USA Today's Touchdown Wire. Barbieri envisions the 49ers trading with the Miami Dolphins to move up 10 spots, selecting former Alabama offensive lineman JC Latham. Latham started 27 games

7-round mock draft from The Athletic sees 49ers fortifying defense early

By David Bonilla

Analyst Dane Brugler recently revealed his seven-round mock draft for The Athletic, forecasting all 257 selections in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft, set to kick off next week. "Piecing together a mock like this is time consuming, but I enjoy the exercise, because it allows me to focus on each team's needs, organizational trends and prospect-team pairings that make sense based on '30' visits, league buzz and overall interest," Brugler wrote. Most expect the 49ers to address the trenches early in the draft, and Brugler has the team doing that. It's just not on the offensive side of the football. In fact, Brugler doesn't have San Francisco
