49ers-Eagles Injury Report: Deebo Samuel ends up practicing despite ankle issue

The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their NFC Championship Game contest against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
On Monday, head coach Kyle Shanahan
provided a list of players who emerged from Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys a bit dinged up. Wide receiver
Deebo Samuel's name wasn't on the list then. That changed on Wednesday. The coach said Samuel was not expected to practice. However, the star wideout did end up getting some work in during Wednesday's session.
The 49ers don't sound too concerned about the receiver's ankle issue.
"
It's just kind of sore," Samuel told reporters before Wednesday's practice. "It's just [us] being pretty cautious, just trying to get ready for Sunday."
Other than that, the names on Wednesday's injury report were pretty much the ones everyone expected. There was no
Jimmy Garoppolo at practice. The 49ers
don't expect the quarterback to be active on Sunday against the Eagles.
Running back
Christian McCaffrey is dealing with a calf contusion, while running back
Elijah Mitchell emerged from this past weekend's game with a groin injury.
It's worth noting that cornerback
Ambry Thomas returned to practice, albeit as a limited participant. He suffered an ankle injury on December 15 against the Seattle Seahawks.
Below are Wednesday's practice participation reports for both the 49ers and Eagles, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff.

Jason Kelce: 49ers adding Javon Hargrave "not going to make it any easier" for Eagles
Adding Javon Hargrave was a huge (and shocking) addition by the San Francisco 49ers. While it seems like a perfect fit and addresses a significant team need, no one saw it coming. The Niners didn't have considerable salary cap space, so signing Hargrave to a four-year, $84 million deal was unexpected.
The former Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle, nicknamed "Grave Digger," joins a defensive line that includes NFL Defensive Player of the Year Nick Bosa and Arik Armstead, bolstering the middle of that unit.
One of the defender's former teammates is happy for Hargrave and his financial good fortune. However, he also knows the loss could be problematic for the defending NFC champions in the upcoming season.

Ben Roethlisberger says 49ers reached out after Jimmy Garoppolo injury
The San Francisco 49ers made a call to former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger during the 2022 season after Jimmy Garoppolo went down with a broken foot. Despite rookie Brock Purdy stepping in and leading the team to a December 4 win over the Miami Dolphins, the 49ers understandably opted to look into all their options, including finding out if Roethlisberger might be interested in temporarily pausing his retirement.
"Last year, there were some truths to the Niners thing," Roethlisberger told Mark Madden at 105.9 The X,
49ers have no plans to trade Javon Kinlaw, per report
The San Francisco 49ers plan to hold onto defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw for the fourth and final year of his rookie deal. According to Cam Inman of Bay Area News Group, who spoke with general manager John Lynch on Wednesday at Stanford's pro day, the team has no plans to trade the former first-round pick.
Some wondered about Kinlaw's future after the 49ers signed former Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Javon Hargrave to a four-year, $84 million deal. To many, the move seemingly signaled an admission that trading DeForest Buckner in 2020
