The San Francisco 49ers
opened the 21-day practice windows for running back
Elijah Mitchell, linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair, and offensive lineman
Colton McKivitz. All three were on the practice field on Monday.
They aren't the only ones preparing to return from injuries. As expected, wide receiver
Deebo Samuel (hamstring), fullback
Kyle Juszczyk (finger), and wide receiver
Jauan Jennings (hamstring) returned to the practice field.

Neither Samuel nor Juszczyk practiced in the week leading to the road win against the Los Angeles Rams. Jennings missed the first two practices that week but was a limited participant in the third.
Cornerback Jason Verrett (knee), inactive against the Rams, was limited in the week leading to that game. Reporters saw him on the practice field for Monday's light bonus session.
Noticeably absent from the early portion of practice (reporters must leave once team drills begin) were defensive lineman
Arik Armstead (foot, ankle) and linebacker
Dre Greenlaw (calf). However, the
49ers have three more practices (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday) scheduled for this week.

Kyle Juszczyk: 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk "just looks different than everyone else on the field"
Anything short of topping his 78-catch, 1,015-receiving-yard, and eight-touchdown performance from last season might disappoint San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. All were career highs, and the fourth-year wideout expects more of himself in 2023.
"I'm about to take off," Aiyuk declared last week. "That's it. ... We all know it's football. Nothing's ever guaranteed, but just getting a better understanding for my life as a person, and then as a football player, kind of putting those things together and then just looking to get better."
If Aiyuk does "take off" during the upcoming season, it creates an interesting predicament for the organization. When
49ers WR Deebo Samuel rips his 2022 performance: 'It was awful'
Deebo Samuel made it clear Tuesday he's on a mission to erase all memories of his performance during the 2022 season, which he feels was nowhere near his previously established level of play.
The 49ers' standout wide receiver/running back addressed that performance during a press conference on Day 1 of 49ers mandatory minicamp. He did not hold back when issuing a critique of how things went for him in 2022.
"Oh, it was awful," Samuel said. "Every aspect."
Samuel, 27, caught 56 passes for 632 yards in 13 games last season while rushing for 232 yards and three touchdowns on 42 carries. There were moments on the field when Samuel certainly made his presence felt, but overall he fell short of making the type of impact he made in 2021, when he caught 77
