49ers tackle Mike McGlinchey returns to practice

Aug 29, 2022 at 12:26 PM--

San Francisco 49ers tackle Mike McGlinchey has been sidelined with a knee injury since the team's first preseason game. Head coach Kyle Shanahan was optimistic that the offensive lineman might return to practice this week. McGlinchey was suited up for today's practice, per multiple reports. He wore a brace over his right knee.

Wide receiver Deebo Samuel did not practice yesterday due to a contusion behind his knee. He and offensive lineman Daniel Brunskill missed today too but were seen running on the side during the early open portion of practice.

The 49ers have one more practice scheduled before Wednesday's day off. After that, the team will begin preparations for its Week 1 game against the Chicago Bears.

A few other 49ers players were not seen during practice. ESPN's Nick Wagoner notes that tackle Trent Williams, linebackers Oren Burks, Curtis Robinson, and Dre Greenlaw, and defensive lineman Akeem Spence were among those who were absent.

It's worth noting that, like yesterday, Garoppolo was not seen during today's practice. The quarterback has not been practicing or attending team meetings as the 49ers look to trade him. However, reporters often saw Garoppolo working on the side during training camp practices. That has not been the case this week.

San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey returned to practice on Thursday after sitting out Wednesday's session due to what head coach Kyle Shanahan called "some irritation" in his knee. The issue arose during Sunday's 13-0 win over the New Orleans Saints. San Francisco lost running back Elijah Mitchell for the remainder of the regular season due to an MCL sprain. Rookie Jordan Mason, known as "J.P." to his coaches and teammates, filled in for Mitchell and McCaffrey at the end of the game against the Saints. Defensive linemen Arik Armstead and Charles Omenihu were on the practice field. While Armstead has not played since Week 4, he was a limited

Nick Bosa grew up in Fort Lauderdale. He spends his time off during the offseason there, training with his brother, Joey. The Miami Dolphins are his hometown team. On Sunday at Levi's Stadium, the San Francisco 49ers defensive end will be looking to end the Dolphins' winning streak and maybe silence some of his friends. "I've got some friends coming out," Bosa told reporters before Wednesday's practice. "They'll be wearing Dolphins jerseys. It would be good to shut them up." Bosa is excited about the matchup and believes it may be a preview of things to come. Maybe these two teams will see each other again in February. For now, the pass rusher is focused on getting the win this

There are a lot of storylines surrounding the upcoming Week 13 matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and the Miami Dolphins. First, it features Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel going up against his former mentor, Kyle Shanahan. It will also feature running backs Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr. returning to Levi's Stadium for the first time. But don't discount the storyline of McDaniel being concerned about facing the 49ers defense—specifically, Nick Bosa. On Monday, the Dolphins coach was asked about his concern about game planning for the 49ers' talented pass rusher without left tackle Terron Armstead, who has been ruled out due to a pectoral injury. "If Nick Bosa has a pulse, you're concerned," McDaniel responded (h/t
