San Francisco 49ers tackle Mike McGlinchey has been sidelined with a knee injury since the team's first preseason game. Head coach Kyle Shanahan was optimistic that the offensive lineman might return to practice this week. McGlinchey was suited up for today's practice, per multiple reports. He wore a brace over his right knee.
Wide receiver
Deebo Samuel did not practice yesterday due to a contusion behind his knee. He and offensive lineman Daniel Brunskill missed today too but were seen running on the side during the early open portion of practice.
The 49ers have one more practice scheduled before Wednesday's day off. After that, the team will begin preparations for its Week 1 game against the Chicago Bears.
A few other 49ers players were not seen during practice. ESPN's Nick Wagoner notes that tackle
Trent Williams, linebackers Oren Burks,
Curtis Robinson, and
Dre Greenlaw, and defensive lineman Akeem Spence were among those who were absent.
It's worth noting that, like yesterday, Garoppolo was not seen during today's practice. The quarterback has not been practicing or attending team meetings as the 49ers look to trade him. However, reporters often saw Garoppolo working on the side during training camp practices. That has not been the case this week.

49ers add tackle in latest NFL.com mock draft
Mock draft season is drawing to a close, and NFL Media analyst Charles Davis turned in his third and final installment ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft, set to commence tomorrow in Detroit.
It's widely anticipated that the San Francisco 49ers will bolster their offensive line with the No. 31 overall pick, and Davis doesn't stray from this expectation. With talents like Amarius Mims and Tyler Guyton off the board, Davis sees general manager John Lynch and his team selecting former Washington offensive tackle Roger Rosengarten.

Mike Silver on how Deebo Samuel's contract might be the starting point for a Brandon Aiyuk extension
With the 2024 NFL Draft less than a week away, it's common for the rumor mill to start churning, especially with players who are actively seeking a new contract. It was just two short years ago that WR Deebo Samuel requested a trade from the San Francisco 49ers prior to draft day, only for cooler heads to prevail and eventually agree to a new deal.
Now, it's WR Brandon Aiyuk's turn to try and get paid and rumors surfaced over the weekend that he too would request to be dealt. While that report was quickly shot down by his agent, there's still a lot of discussion about Aiyuk's future and if other teams will come calling on draft night.

49ers sign WR Trent Taylor, reuniting with former draft pick
The San Francisco 49ers announced the signing of wide receiver Trent Taylor to a one-year deal, reuniting with the team's former fifth-round draft pick out of Louisiana Tech.
Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area was the first to report that the 49ers were discussing a potential reunion with Taylor. The receiver was part of head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch's first draft class in 2017 and spent his first four NFL seasons with the team.
