The Niners had waived/injured Mack on August 23. However, the receiver went unclaimed and reverted to the team's injured reserve list the next day.
Mack caught one pass for nine yards in San Francisco's preseason opener against the Green Bay Packers. The 49ers initially signed him to the team's practice squad on December 6, 2021, then to a reserve/future contract on January 31.
Mack entered the NFL in 2020 with the New York Giants, signing as an undrafted free agent out of Ohio State.
