Los Angeles Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey has gone against a lot of receiver talent through his six NFL seasons. He appeared on The Pivot Podcast this week and was asked to rank the talent he has faced. Who are the top NFL wide receivers he has faced over his career?
The first two names out of his mouth are understandable. They were Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams and Miami Dolphins wideout Tyreek Hill. However, Ramsey sees them more like 1A and 1B within his ranking.
"It's tough [choosing] because I ain't guard everybody, obviously," Ramsey shared (h/t TheSFNiners).
The All-Pro corner had a third name to throw into the mix to create a trio of receivers tied for the No. 1 spot—San Francisco 49ers wideout Deebo Samuel.
"Them three for sure because they change the game," Ramsey explained. "Honestly, the offenses are structured around them."
Ramsey's two teammates, Odell Beckham Jr. and Cooper Kupp came next on his list at No. 4 and 5A, respectively. Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs was his selection for 5B.
On Tuesday, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan discussed Samuel during a media session at the NFL owners meetings in Florida, noting that he hopes the team signs the young player to an extension soon.
"I haven't had anybody like Deebo, ever," Shanahan said, "someone who is built like him, who is more like a running back with just the way he can take hits and the way his body can deliver a blow. Then you go with his speed, which allows him to be a receiver. You go to his toughness, his hands.
"People don't realize how smart Deebo is too, and he's one of the smartest players I've been around. Nothing's too big for him."
Two wide receivers stood out during Friday afternoon's rookie minicamp session — the only one open to the media — and neither was one of the San Francisco 49ers' drafted pass catchers, Jordan Watkins or Junior Bergen. One was undrafted free agent Isaiah Neyor, who...
