According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the San Francisco 49ers have re-signed cornerback Dontae Johnson to a one-year deal. he was an unrestricted free agent.
Free-agent defensive backs Rashaan Melvin and Dontae Johnson have resigned one-year deals with their respective teams, the Panrhers and 49ers, per their agent @DrewJRosenhaus.
San Francisco made Johnson (6-2, 200) a fourth-round selection out of NC State in 2014. He registered 30 tackles, two passes defensed, and a forced fumble through 16 game appearances and three starts with the 49ers last season.
Johnson, 30, has recorded 214 tackles, five tackles for a loss, seven quarterback hits, a sack, 26 passes defensed, two interceptions, two touchdowns, and a forced fumble in 103 game appearances (28 starts) through his eight NFL seasons with the 49ers, Buffalo Bills, and Los Angeles Chargers.
The last two seasons have been Johnson's third stint with the 49ers.
This is Wednesday's second re-signing by the 49ers. Defensive end Jordan Willis also agreed to return to the team.
