The San Francisco 49ers don't own a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. However, they do own three selections in the first three rounds thanks to a compensatory pick that was handed out this week. The 49ers currently have nine selections overall.

Pro Football Focus released a new three-round mock draft and has San Francisco addressing several needs with those first three selections.

Round 2, Overall Pick 61

Pro Football Focus has the 49ers adding a pass rusher in Nik Bonitto of Oklahoma. He registered 39 tackles, 15 tackles for a loss, seven sacks, a pass defensed, and a forced fumble through 11 game appearances as a junior in 2021, per Sports Reference.

At the NFL Scouting Combine, the 6'3" and 248-pound Bonitto had a 40-time of 4.54 seconds, a vertical jump of 35.5 inches, a broad jump of 120 inches, completed the three-cone drill in 77 seconds, and a 20-yard shuttle time of 4.23 seconds. In addition, Bonitto measured in with an arm length of 32 1/2 inches and 9 3/8-inch hands.

Round 3, Overall Pick 93

The analytics site has San Francisco adding Cincinnati safety Bryan Cook with its second selection. The young defender recorded 96 tackles, five tackles for a loss, a sack, nine passes defensed, and two interceptions through 14 game appearances as a senior in 2021.

Cook did not run or take part in drills at the NFL Scouting Combine because of the shoulder surgery he underwent after the 2021 season. The Bearcats will hold their Pro Day on Thursday, March 24.

Round 3, Overall Pick 105

Pro Football Focus has the 49ers finally addressing offense in the third round, selecting Boise State wide receiver Khalil Shakir. The wideout registered 77 receptions for 1,117 yards and seven touchdowns through 12 game appearances as a senior in 2021.

At the NFL Scouting Combine, the 5' 11 7/8" and 196-pound Shakir had a 40-time of 4.43 seconds, a vertical jump of 34.5 inches, a broad jump of 124 inches, completed the three-cone drill in 7.28 seconds, and a 20-yard shuttle time of 4.21 seconds. Shakir's other measurables include an arm length of 29 inches and hands measuring 9 1/2 inches.

Latest PFF mock draft has 49ers making surprise pick in Round 1

By David Bonilla
Mar 25

The San Francisco 49ers focused on defense in free agency but still have several needs heading into the 2024 NFL Draft. The team did not address the offensive line, and it's a safe bet they will do so with some rookie selections next month. The Niners could also continue bolstering things on the defensive side of the football. Adding to the defensive back, defensive line, or linebacker groups remains possibilities. Pro Football Focus analyst Brad Spielberger released his latest mock draft and doesn't have the 49ers drafting at any of those positions. Instead, he has the team adding a bit of an insurance policy on offense, drafting former Georgia wide receiver

Pro Football Focus' Trevor Sikkema unveiled his latest mock draft this week and has the San Francisco 49ers addressing the offensive line. Specifically, Sikkema suggests the team seeks a potential replacement for Colton McKivitz at right tackle. In Sikkema's projection, the Niners select former Georgia offensive lineman Amarius Mims with the No. 31 overall pick. The analyst views him as an ideal addition to an offensive front that was untouched in free agency—apart from ensuring continuity among last season's starters. "Mims has one of the craziest builds you will have ever seen — in a good way

The Pro Football Focus (PFF) Mock Draft Simulator was used to create this mock draft. In mock draft 5.0, I continued using the "best player available" model for the San Francisco 49ers. This week, the 49ers' position of need and value met in the first round. Round 1, Pick 31 CB, Kool-Aid McKinstry, Alabama The 49ers have three defensive backs in the last years of their contracts. Charvarius Ward is a veteran in the last year of his deal with the team, and Deommodore Lenoir and Ambry Thomas are playing in the last year of their rookie contracts.
