Benjamin Allbright of KOA radio reports that former Denver Broncos head coach, Vic Fangio, was in Santa Clara on Thursday and could take on a consulting role for the San Francisco 49ers.
"Vic Fangio was in San Francisco today talking to [general manager] John Lynch out there," Allbright said. "I don't think he's taking the [defensive coordinator] job there. That's DeMeco Ryans. But he may consult [a] year, take a look at it, and kind of figure things out.
"He's got options, he's got offers, as you all know. He's also [still getting] paid to be the Broncos head coach, so he doesn't exactly have to work in those kinds of roles this season. He can kind of do something like that before jumping back into something next year."

Fangio served as the 49ers defensive coordinator for then-head coach Jim Harbaugh from 2011 through 2014. He then served in the same role with the Chicago Bears for four seasons before being named the Broncos head coach in 2019.
Fangio finished his time in Denver with a 19-30 record.
