49ers-Rams: How to watch, stream, and listen to the NFC Championship Game

Jan 26, 2022 at 8:50 AM--

The San Francisco 49ers return to the NFC Championship Game for the second time in three seasons as they travel to take on the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium. This marks just the second postseason meeting between the two teams, with the 49ers earning a 30-3 victory over the Rams in the NFC Championship Game on January 14, 1990.

The 49ers are coming off a 13-10 victory over the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. K Robbie Gould connected on a 45-yard game-winning field goal as time expired, marking his postseason career's second walk-off field goal. DB Jimmie Ward blocked a Packers K Mason Crosby 39-yard field goal attempt, and DL Jordan Willis blocked a Packers P Corey Bojorquez punt. The 49ers became the first team to block both a field goal attempt and a punt since January 1, 1989, when the Buffalo Bills accomplished the feat versus the Houston Oilers (AFC-D). S Talanoa Hufanga recovered the blocked punt and returned it six yards for a touchdown. It marked the first time a member of the 49ers has returned a blocked punt for a touchdown in the postseason in franchise history.

The defense led San Francisco, with the 49ers allowing just 67 rushing yards and sacking Packers QB Aaron Rodgers five times. DL Nick Bosa registered three tackles, 2.0 sacks, and one forced fumble. DL Arik Armstead notched five tackles and 2.0 sacks. DL Samson Ebukam added three tackles and 1.0 sack in the game. LB Fred Warner finished with six tackles and the first forced fumble of his postseason career as LB Dre Greenlaw added six tackles of his own and the first fumble recovery of his postseason career.

On offense, TE George Kittle registered four receptions for a postseason career-high 63 yards on the night, including a postseason career-long 24-yard catch. WR Deebo Samuel finished the game with 83 yards from scrimmage (44 receiving & 39 rushing).

Jimmy Garoppolo says 49ers played best game against Cardinals but still have 'a long way to go'

By Kirk Larrabee

As good as the San Francisco 49ers played against the Arizona Cardinals Monday night, there's still room for them to get better, according to quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. It's hard to find much fault with how the 49ers played in their 38-10 shellacking of the Cardinals at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. After fighting off a somewhat slow start, the 49ers rolled over the Cardinals on offense while the defense held them scoreless in the second half, marking the third consecutive week they've reached that feat against an opponent. It was a performance many had been waiting for from the 49ers after an inconsistent start to the season, and Garoppolo had one of his best outings of the year along the way, throwing for 228 yards and four touchdowns on 20-of-29 passing.
