49ers-Rams Injury Report: Jimmy Garoppolo, Trent Williams among 7 players listed as “questionable” for Sunday

Jan 7, 2022 at 2:58 PM--

The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 18 contest against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was limited for his third consecutive practice. He is working hard to start Sunday's game, despite dealing with a serious thumb injury. Garoppolo is listed as "questionable."

"He had a good week," head coach Kyle Shanahan said. "Yeah, a good week of practice when he was in there. I feel good with where he is at right now."

Tackle Trent Williams did not practice at all this week. He suffered an elbow injury during Week 17's win against the Houston Texans. Williams is also listed as "questionable."

"No, Trent didn't practice," Shanahan said. "He's still rehabbing his elbow, trying to get ready for the game. So hopefully he'll be out there."

Below are the official injury reports for the 49ers and Rams, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff. Also included are Friday's practice participation reports.

49ers' George Kittle: 'Trent Williams is the best football player in the NFL'

By David Bonilla
May 20

Trent Williams' 97.8 overall Pro Football Focus grade from the 2021 regular season led the NFL. In fact, it was the highest-ever grade awarded by the analytics site. Now, some will criticize the grade, arguing that you can't consider an offensive tackle the best player in the league. Don't tell that to All-Pro tight end George Kittle, Williams' San Francisco 49ers teammate. "Trent Williams is the best football player in the NFL," Kittle declared Friday on The Pat McAfee Show (h/t NBC Sports Bay Area). "I don't care. You could talk to me about any

George Kittle, Greg Olsen, and Travis Kelce will once again hold Tight End University (TEU), an annual gathering of NFL tight ends who share their experiences and learn from each other. Last year's inaugural event hosted 49 tight ends. This year's gathering is expected to be even larger. TEU will be held at Vanderbilt University from June 22-24, an upgrade from the high school facilities utilized in 2021. After a strong response last year, 75 NFL tight ends — including @gregolsen88

Breer: Jimmy Garoppolo's 49ers fate dependent on Trey Lance's offseason development

By David Bonilla
May 15

Jimmy Garoppolo has remained on the San Francisco 49ers roster far longer than anyone expected or predicted. The Niners have tried to trade the veteran, clearing the way for second-year quarterback Trey Lance. However, offseason shoulder surgery halted trade discussions, and the 49ers, for now, appear stuck with Garoppolo and his hefty salary. The 49ers have maintained that they are comfortable holding onto Garoppolo if they cannot strike a deal to their liking. Everyone realizes, though, that Plan A is to trade the quarterback for something worthwhile rather than letting him fulfill his contract on the team and leave as a free agent in 2023. Releasing Garoppolo would also net them nothing, aside from salary cap space. Holding onto Garoppolo might happen. Most of

Ross Tucker believes 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo to Panthers remains a possibility

By David Bonilla

Former NFL offensive lineman turned sports broadcaster and analyst Ross Tucker doesn't "believe for a second" that the Carolina Panthers and Seattle Seahawks will enter Week 1 of the 2022 season with one of their current quarterbacks as the starter. Instead, he feels both teams will make a move to prevent that from happening. I don't believe for a second that the Panthers & Seahawks are going into Week 1 with their current QBs on the roster.— Ross Tucker (@RossTuckerNFL) May 16,
