San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan addressed the media on Wednesday. He stated that quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo would practice during Wednesday's session. Although, he will be limited.
"[Garoppolo] threw yesterday, and it's made him good enough to be limited today," Shanahan said.
Garoppolo is still recovering from a torn ligament and chipped bone in his right thumb, an injury that some believe will require offseason surgery. He could not practice last week and wasn't available for Sunday's game against the Houston Texans. Rookie Trey Lance started in Garoppolo's place and could make his third career start this weekend, depending on Garoppolo's status.
"We'll put Jimmy in on what he feels comfortable doing with where he's at today," Shanahan said. "Trey will get the rest. I'm sure Trey will get the majority, but we'll see how it is when [they are] out there. Mainly just communicating with them throughout the practice, through the individuals, through everything. Today won't be a full-speed practice, so it's not as challenging."
The Los Angeles Rams will host the 49ers at SoFi Stadium on Sunday afternoon in a playoff-impacting matchup. The 49ers can clinch a playoff spot with a victory while the Rams are hoping to win the NFC West title by knocking off their division rival for the first time since 2018.

Shanahan added that he expects Williams to play on Sunday.
