It's doubtful that the San Francisco 49ers left their quarterback in Nashville, but quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was noticeably absent from Monday's practice. Matt Barrows of The Athletic notes that it is not believed to be COVID-related. That leaves rookie Trey Lance to take the majority of the practice reps.
No Jimmy Garoppolo at the start of practice. It's not believed to be COVID-related. Kyle Shanahan to address later.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan will speak to reporters via a conference call after practice and likely explain his veteran starter's absence.
The Monday session is a bonus practice. The 49ers are coming off a Thursday-night game and had extra time off following the 20-17 loss to the Tennessee Titans. They are beginning preparations to host the Houston Texans on Sunday.
Also absent was wide receiver Deebo Samuel. On Monday, he shared on social media that he is the father of an 8-pound, 15-ounce newborn.
