On Friday, San Francisco 49ers running back Elijah Mitchell was listed as "questionable" for Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings. He has been recovering from surgery to repair a fractured finger and was among the team's four inactive players last weekend against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Mitchell practiced this past week in a blue no-contact jersey, with his right hand wrapped, and was limited. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Mitchell is expected to play against the Vikings.
49ers' RB Elijah Mitchell, listed as questionable for Sunday due to rib and finger injuries, is expected to play vs. the Vikings, per source.
If Mitchell can be anywhere close to 100 percent at kickoff, it will significantly boost an already punishing 49ers rushing attack that produced 86 carries over the last two games.
"If he's not 100 percent confident in how he feels, then we won't put him out there," head coach Kyle Shanahan said on Friday. "So, it's mainly just getting to that point. And I think it's getting closer to being that."
Mitchell, a sixth-round draft pick, leads the team with 560 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns. His 4.8 yards per carry ranks No. 6 among running backs with at least 80 carries this season.
The 49ers and Vikings, both owning 5-5 records and entrenched in the NFC playoff hunt, are scheduled to kick off from Levi's Stadium on Sunday at 1:25 p.m. PT.
