As Caplan states, K'Waun Williams is dealing with a calf strain. He exited Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers in the first quarter and did not return.
"He'll be out a few weeks," head coach Kyle Shanahan said on Monday.
The Cleveland Browns made Skrine (5-9, 185) a fifth-round selection out of Chattanooga in 2011. He has registered 66 tackles, three passes defensed, and a forced fumble through 12 games with the Chicago Bears last season. The Bears released the cornerback on March 17.
Skrine, 32, has recorded 573 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 87 passes defensed, nine interceptions, and six forced fumbles through his 10 NFL seasons.
