The San Francisco 49ers open the 2021 regular season with a road trip to play the Detroit Lions. San Francisco's overall record versus Detroit is 38-28-1, with the Niners winning 10 out of the last 11 matchups between the two teams.

The 49ers are visiting the Lions for the first time since 2015. San Francisco has won two of its three games at Ford Field. This also marks the fifth time Detroit and San Francisco face off in the opening game of the regular season, with the teams splitting the four matchups.

The San Francisco 49ers are hosting several draft prospects this week as the deadline for pre-draft visits draws near. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, the team will host former Western Kentucky wide receiver Malachi Corley on Wednesday. Corley is expected to be a Day 2 pick. San Francisco owns two selections on Day 2—the No. 63 overall pick in the second round and the No. 94 overall pick in the third round. Currently, the receiver is visiting with the Seattle Seahawks. Brandon Aiyuk must really need that new contract. The San Francisco 49ers wide receiver took on an offseason job as an Applebee's employee while awaiting news about his NFL future. Well, not exactly. It was actually part of the series "Undercover Athlete" from Whistle, promoting the new "Whole Lotta Bacon Burger."
