Watch Josh Norman get a call mid-interview, receive offer from 49ers

Sep 6, 2021 at 8:13 AM--

"We got San Francisco where we want them," Josh Norman's agent, Ryan Williams, told the veteran cornerback.

Norman had just stepped away from an interview to take the call and learn of his NFL fate. With other suitors interested, the free agent waited to find the perfect landing spot following a one-season stint in Buffalo.

"Like you said, they have a good defense," Williams continued. "They have a team that can compete, potentially win right now. So, you make the final call, man. What do you think?"

Norman agreed, and the deal moved forward.

"Alright, man. You're a Forty-Niner," his agent responded.

Jay Glazer of FOX Sports was the first to report the news of the signing, doing so on Sunday afternoon. Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported that the Norman could earn up to $2.5 million on his one-year deal, and the cornerback had interest from other teams as well.

"Let's go get 'em, 49ers," Norman said at the end of the video.

Today, San Francisco will likely announce a corresponding roster move to fit Norman on the 53-player roster. The team will hold a practice at 10:40 a.m. in Santa Clara.

You can watch the video of the Norman interview below. The call from his agent begins just after the four-minute mark.

H/t to Steve DiMora for the find.

The San Francisco 49ers (2-3) are coming off their bye week and will host the Indianapolis Colts (2-4) on Sunday night. The Colts are making their first regular-season trip to Levi's Stadium. It's the first time the 49ers have hosted the Colts since September 22, 2013. San Francisco looks to snap a three-game losing streak. The Arizona Cardinals beat the 49ers 10-17 at State Farm Stadium during Week 5. San Francisco's offense rushed for a season-high 152 yards during the game, with quarterback Trey Lance rushing for a game-high 89 yards on 16 carries (5.6 average). That was the most rushing yards by a 49ers quarterback in a single game since Colin Kaepernick rushed for 113 yards on 10 carries against Miami on November 27, 2016. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel registered three

DeForest Buckner on 49ers with Trey Lance: 'You kind of get that Baltimore Ravens kind of vibe'

Jimmy Garoppolo will probably start when the San Francisco 49ers host DeForest Buckner and the Indianapolis Colts at Levi's Stadium this weekend. For Buckner, it will be his first time stepping into the stadium since the 49ers traded him to the Colts last year. "It's definitely weird being on the other side, watching film on [them]," Buckner admits. "Obviously, they've got a bunch of new faces since I've been gone, but [also] a lot of similar faces on that side of the ball, a lot of guys that I call brothers and friends. It's weird, definitely. "I know it's going to feel weird once I get to the stadium, and get to the opponent's locker room, and little things like that. It's definitely going to be kind of weird, but I'm excited." While Buckner and

Jimmie Ward reveals what impresses him about 49ers rookie Trey Lance

By David Bonilla

San Francisco 49ers safety Jimmie Ward has gone against several rookie quarterbacks over his career, and he's done it from several positions on defense. He knows the difference between going against a rookie and a seasoned veteran. Coaches tend to keep things simple for younger players trying to transition to the pro level. That means a lot of plays are designed to get the football out of their hands quickly. Often, the game plan also involves playing it safe. "I don't know too many [young] quarterbacks that will go for a deep ball on third-and-one and third-and-two," Ward said Wednesday on 95.7 The Game's Damon, Ratto & Kolsky show. "Most likely, they're going to play it safe and try to run some kind of quick-game route to get the

Jimmie Ward on 49ers rookie Deommodore Lenoir: 'He's going to be a great player in this league'

By David Bonilla

Cornerback Deommodore Lenoir may end up being one of the best value picks from the San Francisco 49ers' most recent draft class. He was a fifth-round draft pick, and the Niners tend to find gold in that round. Linebacker Dre Greenlaw was a fifth-round draft pick in 2019. D.J. Reed may not be on the team anymore but is proving to be a good player for the Seattle Seahawks. He was a 49ers fifth-round pick in 2018. In 2017, San Francisco drafted some little-known tight end out of Iowa named George Kittle. He's not bad either. Could Lenoir be the team's next fifth-round gem? The rookie's teammate, safety Jimmie Ward, joined 95.7 The Game on Wednesday. The discussion eventually led to Lenoir and the young defensive back's early dividends. The
