Cornerback Tim Harris last practiced with the San Francisco 49ers on Monday, when he left the morning session due to a groin injury. Head coach Kyle Shanahan estimated that the defender would miss at least a couple of weeks as he recovered.
On Wednesday, the Niners waived Harris with an injury designation, betting that the cornerback would go unclaimed by another team. He didn't get claimed and has reverted back to San Francisco's injured reserve list, per Aaron Wilson.
49ers' Tim Harris reverted to injured reserve from waived-injured
Harris is entering his third season with the 49ers, the team that made him a sixth-round draft pick out of Virginia in 2019. He spent his rookie season on injured reserve, coincidentally, with a groin injury. Harris appeared in two games last season, playing in 18 snaps on special teams.
