Injured CB Tim Harris reverts back to 49ers after going unclaimed

Aug 5, 2021 at 3:09 PM--

Cornerback Tim Harris last practiced with the San Francisco 49ers on Monday, when he left the morning session due to a groin injury. Head coach Kyle Shanahan estimated that the defender would miss at least a couple of weeks as he recovered.

On Wednesday, the Niners waived Harris with an injury designation, betting that the cornerback would go unclaimed by another team. He didn't get claimed and has reverted back to San Francisco's injured reserve list, per Aaron Wilson.

Harris is entering his third season with the 49ers, the team that made him a sixth-round draft pick out of Virginia in 2019. He spent his rookie season on injured reserve, coincidentally, with a groin injury. Harris appeared in two games last season, playing in 18 snaps on special teams.

"You're going to be the No. 1 team in the NFC": Adam Rank predicts 14-3 record for 49ers

By David Bonilla
Sep 10

Yes, everyone remembers NFL Media analyst Adam Rank predicting a three-win season for the San Francisco 49ers in 2019. That team went on to win 13 games before a playoff run that ended just short of a championship. Last year, Rank predicted a 12-4 record. Instead, San Francisco won half as many games after suffering through one of the most injury-plagued seasons NFL fans had seen in decades. Rank gets a pass because no one saw that one coming. The Niners are healthier entering the 2021 season and look to prove that last season, not 2019, was the anomaly. So what is Rank's prediction for this year's

49ers remain cautious about QB Trey Lance's Sunday status as he rebounds from injured finger

By Kirk Larrabee

Trey Lance's finger appears to be healing fast enough for him to be ready to play against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, but the 49ers are still taking things one day at a time as they continue to assess his status. Lance has been working his way back to full practice participation after injuring his finger when his hand hit the helmet of a defensive player during the 49ers' preseason finale against the Las Vegas Raiders on August 29. He was seen throwing at practice Thursday without any visible problems after shedding the splint he was wearing days earlier, but the 49ers still listed him as limited during their Thursday injury

Injured reserve not being considered yet for 49ers DT Javon Kinlaw, says Kyle Shanahan

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke with reporters after today's practice and provided an update on Javon Kinlaw. The second-year defensive tackle has been dealing with a setback in his knee, an injury that occurred on December 20, 2020, against the Dallas Cowboys and forced him to miss the last two games of the season. Kinlaw was officially listed as "doubtful" for Sunday on the team's injury report. With the knee issues continuing to resurface, Shanahan was asked if injured reserve is a possibility for the defensive tackle. "Not yet," the coach responded. "I mean, he's still got a chance to play this week, so we're still trying to decide that. So, not yet." General manager John Lynch didn't sound too optimistic about Kinlaw's

Kyle Shanahan talks 49ers' CB options with Jason Verrett injured; Richard Sherman 'always a possibility'

By David Bonilla

Could Richard Sherman return to the San Francisco 49ers? Head coach Kyle Shanahan isn't eliminating the possibility following the likely loss of starting cornerback Jason Verrett for the season. After the game, head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that he fears Verrett suffered a torn ACL, ending the season again for the often-injured veteran cornerback. What are the 49ers' options moving forward? Recently-signed cornerback Josh Norman was inactive for the game. "He was definitely ready to go," Shanahan said. "Josh actually told us if we tell him today that he's up, he'll be ready to go. So Josh has been a soldier all week, and I'm real excited to have him here, and I know he was ready this week, so I expect him to be ready next week also." Shanahan
