Samson Ebukam’s workout leaves 49ers teammates impressed

Jun 29, 2021 at 9:57 AM--

Samson Ebukam definitely doesn't skip leg day, as you're about to see.

Ebukam, who figures to fill a pass rushing role for the 49ers this season, posted a demonstration of how much he can squat to Instagram on Monday. It's the latest in a number of workout videos Ebukam has shared on Instagram since signing with the 49ers in March after spending the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Rams.

A number of players were impressed with Ebukam's latest video, including teammates George Kittle, Trey Lance, Darrion Daniels, and Jeff Wilson, as well as Colts linebacker Zaire Franklin and Rams linebacker Ogbo Okoronkwo. Each of them left brief comments on the video, with Kittle saying, "Sheeeeeeesh." Check it out below.

The 49ers signed Ebukam to a two-year deal worth $12 million and appear set to let him loose on opposing quarterbacks. Ebukam had 14 sacks in four seasons with the Rams but may be in more of an attack mode with the 49ers.

"The number one thing is, with the Rams, I was kind of reading and things like that," Ebukam said earlier this month. "But over here, it's just attack, don't read. So I just have to flip a 180 real quick and just get on that. Attack, and the people behind me will clean it up."

'They don't make them any tougher than Jimmy': Baldy impressed by Garoppolo's gutsy 49ers-Rams performance

By David Bonilla
Jan 11

Early last week, no one was even sure if Jimmy Garoppolo would be suited up for Sunday's regular-season finale. The Los Angeles Rams had to figure the safe bet was a matchup against San Francisco 49ers rookie quarterback Trey Lance. And, of course, head coach Kyle Shanahan was being coy about which quarterback he planned to start. Garoppolo played through a torn ligament and chipped bone in his right thumb. After Sunday's thrilling playoff-clinching 27-24 overtime win, the quarterback admitted that he had a good feeling early in the week that he would be able to play. "Yeah, I think it was Tuesday we did the throwing session, tested it out, turned it into a game-like scenario," Garoppolo explained. "I kept being aware of it the whole week, but I had a pretty good

49ers' Kyle Shanahan impressed with rookie CB Ambry Thomas' improved play

Ambry Thomas' first NFL start came in Week 14, and it was a miserable outing. Yes, the San Francisco 49ers beat the Cincinnati Bengals 26-23, but the rookie cornerback surrendered three catches for 81 yards and a touchdown while being responsible for two penalties. Thomas earned the lowest overall Pro Football Focus grade of his six starts in that game. Those numbers have greatly improved since then. Thomas' 73.4 overall grade in Sunday's playoff win against the Dallas Cowboys was the rookie's highest of the season. He allowed two targets for 24 yards and just four total yards after the catch while recording a pass breakup. Thomas was inactive for five of the 49ers' first seven games. The word "bust" was being prematurely thrown out by some. The cornerback is

The San Francisco 49ers are heading back to the playoffs for the first time since their 2019 Super Bowl run after a thrilling Week 18 overtime victory against the NFC West champion Los Angeles Rams. The 49ers were a 13-3 powerhouse in 2019, earning the #1 seed and a first-round bye, but this 2021 version, a 10-game winner and the 6th seed, may actually be better positioned to win it all than the 2019 squad. Let's compare the offensive position groups from each season to see who has the edge. Quarterback 2019 Jimmy Garoppolo 16 games, 329/476 69.1%, 3978 yds, 27 TDs and 13 INTs, 2.7 INT% Nick Mullens 2021 Jimmy Garoppolo 15 games,
