Pro Football Focus continues its offseason rankings of each NFL position group. The most recent list looks at the linebacker units across the league. It doesn't take long to find the San Francisco 49ers. Their group of talented linebackers, led by Fred Warner, come in at No. 1.

"The 49ers are one of the few teams to have multiple players featured in PFF's ranking of the top 32 linebackers entering 2021, and that makes them a very difficult group to top as a unit," wrote Sam Monson.

Last month, San Francisco was represented twice within Pro Football Focus' top 32 NFL linebackers. Warner came in at No. 2, behind only Bobby Wagner of the Seattle Seahawks.

San Francisco made Warner a third-round draft pick out of BYU in 2018. The 24-year-old linebacker recorded a career-high 125 tackles with five tackles for a loss, seven quarterback hits, two interceptions, a sack, six passes defensed, and a forced fumble through 16 games, per Pro Football Reference. The performance earned him a Pro Bowl selection and All-Pro honors.

"Fred Warner wasn't the top-ranked linebacker," Monson continued, "but he has out graded Bobby Wagner (who was) in coverage over the past two seasons and was the No. 1-graded linebacker (88.6 overall) in the league last season. Dre Greenlaw is a solid player but isn't coming off his best year alongside Warner."

Dre Greenlaw, 24, came in at No. 30 in last month's linebacker ranking. He recorded 178 tackles, 10 tackles for a loss, four quarterback hits, an interception, two sacks, and three passes defensed in his two NFL seasons. The 49ers made Greenlaw a fifth-round selection out of Arkansas in 2019.

Where the 49ers landed in PFF's latest power ranking

By David Bonilla
Apr 22

While it would be foolish to declare that the San Francisco 49ers lack any deficiencies, the team remains one of the most talented rosters in the NFL. That alone is enough to place them high on media power rankings. The truth is, power rankings mean very little at this stage in the offseason. Yes, free agency has come and gone, but NFL rosters are about to undergo further changes this week, with the 2024 NFL Draft slated for Thursday. Pro Football Focus' Amelia Probst posted a power ranking based on the analytics site's data on each roster and the offseason roster moves made so far. The San Francisco 49ers came in at No. 2, behind only the Kansas City
