With the start of the 2021 NFL Draft just a day away, San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle joined Good Morning Football this morning. He could have a new quarterback as a teammate by Thursday night. On March 26, the Niners traded a haul, including two future first-rounders, to move up to the No. 3 spot.
While the team has stated that Jimmy Garoppolo remains in its plans for the upcoming season, there have been reports of growing buzz around the league that San Francisco could look to trade Garoppolo before or during the draft.
In Kittle's mind, though, Garoppolo remains his guy.
"I mean, Jimmy's our quarterback," Kittle said. "He has been. He's led us to a bunch of wins. We haven't won without him. His record speaks for itself. ... Kyle (Shanahan) and John (Lynch) are doing whatever they can to make this team compete for a Super Bowl, and if they think that's bringing in another quarterback, another tight end, another fullback, another linebacker, whatever it is, they're just trying to make this team better and more competitive.
"I know the team trusts in them because they haven't led us astray yet."
Mac Jones of Alabama remains the betting favorite to be the No. 3 overall pick. Trey Lance of North Dakota State has the second-best odds, and Justin Fields of Ohio State follows him.
