Baltimore drafted Flacco out of Delaware with the No. 18 overall pick in 2008. He spent 2019 with the Denver Broncos and last year with the New York Jets. Flacco played for Rich Scangarello in Denver, when the 49ers quarterbacks coach was the offensive coordinator there.
Flacco appeared in five games last season with four starts, completing 55.2 percent of his passes for 864 yards with six touchdowns and three interceptions. He passed for 1,822 yards with six touchdowns and five interceptions through eight starts with the Broncos in 2019.
While the 49ers have repeatedly expressed confidence that Jimmy Garoppolo would be the team's starter in 2021, general manager John Lynch recently stated that they would like to bolster the position behind Garoppolo. Garoppolo has missed 23 games over the past three seasons due to injuries.
Flacco, 36, has completed 61.7 percent of his passes for 40,931 yards with 224 touchdowns and 144 interceptions through his 13 NFL seasons. He was named the MVP of Super Bowl XLVII in 2013, beating the 49ers 34-31 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.
