Former Cincinnati Bengals and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Andy Dalton is signing a one-year, $10 million deal with the Chicago Bears. Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported earlier today that the San Francisco 49ers were among the teams that were interested in the three-time Pro Bowl quarterback. The Bears were the other team named.

That price was likely too high for San Francisco.

"The market for Andy Dalton is active on the second day of negotiating," wrote the Around the NFL staff earlier today. "NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported the Chicago Bears 'are in' on the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and the San Francisco 49ers are 'strong contenders' to land him. In his first season in Dallas, and away from the Cincinnati Bengals, Dalton started nine of 11 games played, completing 64.9 percent of his passes and throwing for 2,170 yards, 14 TDs and 8 INTs."

Dalton was playing in relief of Dak Prescott, who suffered a season-ending injury during Week 5. Dalton has two seasons of over 4,000 yards passing on his resume, and eight surpassing the 3,000-yard mark. He has completed 62.2 percent of his passes for 33,764 yards with 218 touchdowns and 126 interceptions during his 10 NFL seasons.

The 49ers currently have Garoppolo, Josh Johnson, and Josh Rosen signed for the upcoming season and have indicated that they hope to bolster the backup spots behind Garoppolo.

However, it wouldn't surprise many people if the
