Former NFL offensive lineman turned ESPN analyst Damien Woody would love to see quarterback Deshaun Watson paired with Kyle Shanahan. A lot of people would. They know the already talented star quarterback would flourish further with the San Francisco 49ers head coach.

Watson is unhappy in Houston and frustrated by the organization's decision-making. That could lead to a divorce between the Texans and their quarterback, leaving fans and the media speculating about the outcome.

"Could you imagine Deshaun Watson with Kyle Shanahan in a Kyle Shanahan-led offense?" asked Woody on ESPN's First Take. "It would just be crazy because Kyle Shanahan, the one thing he knows how to do, he knows how to utilize the strengths of his quarterbacks. We've seen him with multiple quarterbacks, whether it was RG3, going back to the Washington Football Team, Matt Ryan with the Atlanta Falcons. He's dealt with all different flavor types of quarterbacks."

Woody notes that Watson hasn't yet hit his prime and is already considered one of the league's top quarterbacks. He would benefit greatly from Shanahan's play-design and the 49ers' weapons on offense.

"They have Brandon Aiyuk, one of the young promising wide receivers," Woody added. "Deebo Samuel, another big-time wide receiver, a young guy. George Kittle, one of the best tight ends in the National Football League.

"So, when you look at the 49ers, you combine the skills that Kyle Shanahan knows how to implement, and put guys in the right positions, with a guy like Deshaun Watson, and the skill set that he has, that would just be, to me, the whole league would be on notice because Deshaun Watson is just a tremendous player, especially in that type of offense."

Domonique Foxworth added that if the 49ers look to acquire Watson from the Texans, the rest of the NFC West needs to do whatever it can to stop the deal, as the other teams within the division would be in serious trouble.

Brock Purdy hopes Kyle Shanahan makes addition to 49ers playbook

By David Bonilla

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy threw for a franchise-record 4,280 yards last season, leading the team to the Super Bowl and earning his first Pro Bowl selection. He held onto the football 39 times on the ground, rushing for 144 yards and scoring twice. This marked a significant improvement over his rookie 2022 campaign when he had 22 carries for 13 yards and a score. Purdy further displayed his athleticism during the 49ers' playoff game against the Detroit Lions last season, helping engineer a comeback victory while rushing for 48 yards on five carries. On Tuesday morning, Purdy joined the "Pat McAfee Show," acknowledging that he believes he can contribute more rushing yards if called upon. However, that decision rests with head coach Kyle Shanahan,

NFL insider states the obvious regarding 49ers' talks with Brandon Aiyuk

By David Bonilla
Apr 18

ESPN insider Adam Schefter recently shared his insights on the situation surrounding San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk during an appearance on the network's "NFL Live" show. Schefter clarified that while Aiyuk would like to remain with the 49ers, his priority is securing a contract that reflects his value, regardless of the team. When questioned about Aiyuk's desire to stay with the team that selected him in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Schefter responded, "Well, I think his desire to get paid is greater than his desire to stay in San Francisco, wherever that is. If the 49ers want to pay him, I'm sure he'd love to stay in San Francisco. If another team would like to pay him, I'm sure he'd like to go
