Ken Webster was one of two San Francisco 49ers cornerbacks injured during Sunday's 23-20 win over the Los Angeles Rams. The other was Jamar Taylor. MRI results confirmed what head coach Kyle Shanahan feared about Taylor. He suffered a torn ACL and will land on season-ending injured reserve.
Webster, like Taylor, was carted off the field on Sunday and did not return. Shanahan said after the game that the cornerback suffered a hamstring injury.
Shanahan told reporters via a Zoom call on Tuesday that the injury was a "severe" hamstring injury, and that Webster will go on injured reserve.
Webster is in his second NFL season. The New England Patriots made him a seventh-round draft pick out of Ole Miss last year. He didn't make the Patriots' 53-man roster and spent last season with the Miami Dolphins but was waived on September 5, 2020. San Francisco signed him 11 days later.
Webster has recorded 25 tackles, a pass defensed, and a forced fumble through 17 game appearances in two NFL seasons.
