49ers-Saints: Teammates in shock after Kentavius Street’s sack of Drew Brees drew a penalty

Nov 15, 2020 at 2:33 PM--

San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Kentavius Street forced his way to New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and forced the home team into a 3rd-and-long. Then a flag was thrown, and that left everyone watching in a state of confusion.

It looked like a clean sack. You can watch it below and judge for yourself.

Instead of facing a 3rd-and-long, the Saints were given a 1st-and-10 from the 11. That's brutal for an injury-ravaged 49ers team looking for a big upset win on the road. And it left some of Street's sidelined teammates in shock.

Even ESPN's Scott Van Pelt weighed in.

General manager John Lynch revealed that San Francisco 49ers defensive end Kentavius Street won't be fined for his hit on New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees. "Number one, I think it was a very pivotal point in

'It's a tough deal': Kyle Shanahan, Fred Warner, Kerry Hyder discuss the roughing-the-passer penalty

The San Francisco 49ers were still in the game at that point. It looked like defensive lineman Kentavius Street made a critical play, getting to New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees to force a 3rd-and-long. Then 49ers players saw the flag thrown. It was frustrating because it looked like Street had done everything right. He didn't drive his weight into Brees and even landed on his side to ensure that it was a textbook sack. Teammates who did not make the trip to New Orleans and were watching from home were vocal with their dissatisfaction with the outcome. "I don't understand that call!!" cornerback Richard Sherman tweeted out. "Street landed off
