Running back Jeff Wilson Jr. has been named the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week. He rushed for 112 yards on 17 attempts (6.6 avg.) with three touchdowns in the San Francisco 49ers' 33-6 victory over the New England Patriots.

Wilson was the 49ers' first nominee this season for the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week award. He beat out Washington running back Antonio Gibson and Jacksonville Jaguars running back James Robinson for the honor.

Wilson, an undrafted free agent out of North Texas who is now in his third NFL season, has 163 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns on 38 carries and six receptions for 75 yards and another score through six games this season.

Unfortunately for the running back and fans, Wilson will be sidelined for some time. Head coach Kyle Shanahan estimated on Wednesday that Wilson could miss about a month after suffering a high-ankle sprain during the third quarter of Sunday's win.

"It was real tough," Shanahan told reporters. "Just how emotional he was, how much I know it hurt him. He was having such a good game, and every time he's gotten in there, he's played real well, and that was his best game yet. Just not being able to finish it hurt him a little bit.

"... The good news on Jeff is that it wasn't a season-ending injury. High-ankle sprains are always a pain but we know he'll be back, eventually, to help us. He's just got to rehab over this next month or so, and we plan on him to get back here and help us out."

Jeff Garcia has been impressed by San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy in his two seasons with the team. As the last overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Purdy was thrust into the spotlight after the 49ers faced quarterback injuries and proved his NFL mettle. While some doubts lingered after his rookie season, Purdy's resilience shone through. Despite starting only five regular-season games, he guided the 49ers to the NFC Championship Game, where, unfortunately, he suffered a torn ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his throwing arm. Garcia was among those who wondered whether Purdy could maintain his success into his second season. Last year, coming off surgery, Purdy set a single-season franchise record with 4,280 passing yards. His impressive performance
