CBS analyst Tony Romo offered high praise about Fred Warner during Sunday's broadcast of the San Francisco 49ers at New England Patriots, calling the third-year defender the best linebacker in football.
"He runs with the wide receiver like he's a corner," Romo said. "He does so many things at a high level."
The comments came after Warner intercepted Patriots quarterback Cam Newton, his second interception of the season.
"They have, probably the best tight end, second you can argue over at Kansas City, the tight end, but linebacker? That's the best linebacker in ball, right there," Romo continued.
Warner entered the game with a team-leading 50 tackles, which ranks in the NFL's top 10.
Added Romo: "Warner, I'm telling you, I try to find a flaw. Actually, his stats, he hurts himself in stats. He takes away so much stuff in the run game and the pass game that quarterbacks move past him so fast that he never gets to make the tackle because he covers things that you're not supposed to be able to cover, and he does it quickly and efficiently."
The 49ers currently lead the home-team Patriots 23-3 in the second quarter.
